Ingredients
2 medium apples
40 g rolled oats
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
15 g unsalted butter
15 ml maple syrup
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Wash 2 medium apples, cut them in half, remove the cores, and slice each half into 4 even wedges to make 16 wedges total.
- 3
In a small heatproof bowl, melt 15g unsalted butter in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- 4
In a medium mixing bowl, stir together 40g rolled oats, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, and a pinch of salt.
- 5
Pour the 15g melted butter and 15ml maple syrup into the oat mixture, stirring well until the oats are thoroughly coated and clumpy.
- 6
Add the apple wedges to the bowl and toss them with the oat mixture, using your hands to press the spiced oats onto the curved backs and sides of each wedge.
- 7
Arrange the coated apple wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, and spoon any remaining loose oats from the bowl directly onto the tops of the wedges.
- 8
Bake at 175°C for 18 to 20 minutes until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork and the oat topping is golden brown and fragrant.
- 9
Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving warm.
