Ingredients
18 oz raw 93% lean ground turkey
1 cup plain dry breadcrumbs
1 large raw egg
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine 18 oz of raw 93% lean ground turkey, 1 cup of plain dry breadcrumbs, 1 large raw egg, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1/4 tsp of black pepper.
- 3
Gently mix the ingredients together with clean hands just until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat so the meatballs remain tender.
- 4
Shape the mixture into 18 equal-sized meatballs, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet with some space between each.
- 5
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for 12 minutes.
- 6
Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and use a pastry brush to evenly coat each meatball with 1 cup of barbecue sauce.
- 7
Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 8 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the BBQ glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
- 8
Let the meatballs cool slightly before serving, or cool completely before storing in airtight containers for meal prep.
