Chef's Note
For the best texture, use a firm apple like Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith; they hold their shape beautifully during sautéing without turning into applesauce!

Ingredients
2 large Fuji apples
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 fruit lemon
Instructions
- 1
Wash 2 large Fuji apples under cool water. Using a knife, remove the cores and slice the apples into 1/4-inch thick wedges (peeling is optional based on preference).
- 2
Place a medium skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, allowing it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
- 3
Add the raw apple slices to the skillet in an even layer. Sauté the apples for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally with a spatula, until they begin to soften and turn a light golden brown.
- 4
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon evenly over the cooking apples.
- 5
Squeeze 1 teaspoon of juice from the 1/2 lemon into the skillet to balance the sweetness and prevent the sugar from burning.
- 6
Continue to sauté for another 3 to 5 minutes, stirring gently, until the sugar has dissolved into a bubbling syrup and the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
- 7
Remove the skillet from the heat and serve the warm apples immediately in small bowls.
