Chef's Note
For maximum heat retention, pre-warm your thermos with hot water for at least 5 minutes before adding soup. The soup will stay hot for 4-5 hours in a quality thermos.

2 cans (10.75 oz each) canned tomato soup
2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
4 oz cheddar cheese
20 crackers whole grain crackers

Pour 2 cans of tomato soup into a medium saucepan.

Add 2 cups of milk to the saucepan and stir to combine with the soup.

Sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon dried basil.

Heat the soup over medium heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally until hot but not boiling.

While the soup heats, fill your thermos with hot water to pre-warm it.

Cut 4 oz of cheddar cheese into small cubes or slices and place in a small container.

Count out 20 whole grain crackers and place in a separate container or ziplock bag.

When soup is hot, empty the hot water from the thermos and carefully pour in the hot soup.

Seal the thermos immediately to maintain temperature until lunchtime.

Pack the cheese container and crackers alongside the thermos.
