Chef's Note

For the most tender beef, freeze it for 20 minutes before slicing - this makes it easier to cut into thin strips. You can also substitute pre-cut beef strips to save even more time!

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 6 cups cooked white rice

Instructions
  • 1

Slice 2 pounds of flank steak into thin strips against the grain.

  • 2

    Mince 4 cloves of garlic.

  • 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.

  • 4

Add the beef strips and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.

Return beef to the pan. Add 1/2 cup soy sauce and 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Stir to combine.

  • 8

Cook for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef and broccoli.

  • 9

Serve immediately over 6 cups of cooked white rice, divided among 4 plates.
