Chef's Note

For an extra flavor boost, try lightly muddling the strawberries and herbs before adding water. You can also refill the pitcher 1-2 more times with fresh water before the ingredients lose their flavor. The spent fruit is delicious to eat afterward!

  • 8 medium fresh strawberries

  • 10 large fresh basil leaves

  • 1/2 medium cucumber

  • 1/2 medium lemon

  • 1/2 medium lime

  • 5 leaves fresh mint leaves

  • 4 cups filtered water

  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions
  • 1

Wash all produce thoroughly under cold running water.

  • 2

Hull and quarter 8 medium strawberries.

  • 3

Slice 1/2 medium cucumber into thin rounds.

  • 4

Cut 1/2 medium lemon and 1/2 medium lime into thin slices.

  • 5

Gently tear or bruise 10 large basil leaves and 5 mint leaves to release their essential oils.

  • 7

Pour 4 cups of filtered water over the ingredients.

  • 8

Using a wooden spoon, gently press the ingredients to release more flavor.

  • 9

Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for stronger flavor).

  • 10

To serve, strain the infused water into glasses filled with ice cubes, or leave the fruit and herbs in for a more decorative presentation.
