Chef's Note
For a quicker version on busy days, you can use store-bought caramel sauce, but this homemade version has a richer flavor and better texture. The Greek yogurt dip adds protein while balancing the sweetness of the caramel. Make sure to let the caramel cool sufficiently before serving to toddlers to prevent burns.

Ingredients
3 medium apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup Greek yogurt (plain, full-fat)
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped peanuts
Instructions
- 1
Wash and core the 3 apples. Slice them into even wedges, about 8-10 slices per apple.
- 2
Place apple slices in a bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to prevent browning.
- 3
In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts and sugar dissolves, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Once the mixture begins to bubble, carefully add 1/4 cup heavy cream (it may splatter). Stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- 5
Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Allow the caramel to cool for about 10 minutes.
- 6
While the caramel cools, mix 1 cup Greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon honey and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl until well combined.
- 7
Arrange the apple slices on a serving plate. Transfer the caramel dip to a small bowl.
- 8
Place the yogurt mixture in another small bowl and sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped peanuts over both dips.
- 9
Serve the apple slices with both the caramel dip and yogurt dip on the side.
