Chef's Note
For juicier meatballs, avoid overmixing the meat mixture and don't press the meatballs too firmly when shaping them. If you prefer, you can bake the meatballs in a 400°F oven for 15-20 minutes instead of pan-frying them.

Ingredients
8 oz ground turkey
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
3 oz dry penne pasta
1 cup marinara sauce
2 tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1 tsp canola oil
Instructions
- 1
Bring a medium pot of salted water to boil for the pasta.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine 8 oz ground turkey, 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, 1 large egg, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 3
Form the mixture into 12 evenly sized meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
- 4
Heat 1 tsp canola oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- 5
Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
- 6
While the meatballs are cooking, add 3 oz dry penne pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package directions until al dente, about 10-12 minutes.
- 7
Add 1 cup marinara sauce to the skillet with the meatballs. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- 8
Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the meatballs and sauce. Toss gently to coat.
- 9
Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with 2 tbsp parmesan cheese and 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil.
