Chef's Note
For a crispier sandwich, you can lightly butter the outside of the bread and toast it in a pan for 2 minutes per side. Using Greek yogurt mixed with mustard reduces fat while adding protein and creaminess compared to traditional mayo.

3 slices whole grain bread
6 oz deli ham (low sodium)
2 slices swiss cheese
2 leaves romaine lettuce
3 slices tomato
2 thin slices red onion
1/2 medium avocado
2 tsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp greek yogurt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 medium apple
Instructions

Mix 1 tbsp of Greek yogurt with 2 tsp of Dijon mustard in a small bowl to create a spread.

Lightly toast 3 slices of whole grain bread.

Spread the yogurt-mustard mixture on one side of each bread slice.

Layer 3 oz of deli ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on one bread slice.

Add 1 leaf of romaine lettuce, 2 slices of tomato, and 1 slice of red onion on top of the cheese.

On another bread slice, layer the remaining 3 oz of ham, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, 1 leaf of romaine, 1 slice of tomato, and 1 slice of red onion.

Slice 1/2 avocado and divide it between the two stacks.

Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of black pepper over the sandwich fillings.

Place the third slice of bread on top of one stack, then place the other stack on top (filling side up) to create a double-decker sandwich.

Cut the sandwich diagonally and serve with 1 medium apple on the side.
