Chef's Note
For the best flavor, try toasting the bread lightly before assembling. This adds a nice crunch and helps prevent the bread from getting soggy from the vegetables. If you're packing this for later, consider keeping the lettuce and tomato separate until ready to eat.

3 slices whole grain bread
6 oz deli ham (low sodium)
2 slices reduced-fat Swiss cheese
2 leaves romaine lettuce
2 slices tomato
2 thin slices red onion
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp light mayonnaise
1 medium apple
3/4 cup Greek yogurt (plain, non-fat)

Lay out the 3 slices of whole grain bread on a clean work surface.

Spread 1 tsp of Dijon mustard on one slice of bread and 1 tbsp of light mayonnaise on another slice.

Layer 3 oz of deli ham on the mustard-spread bread slice.

Add 1 slice of Swiss cheese on top of the ham.

Place 1 leaf of romaine lettuce and 1 slice of tomato on top of the cheese.

Add 1 slice of red onion on top of the tomato.

Place the third slice of bread on top of the assembled layers.

On this middle slice, add another 3 oz of ham, followed by the second slice of Swiss cheese.

Top with the remaining lettuce leaf, tomato slice, and red onion slice.

Complete the sandwich with the mayonnaise-spread bread slice, placing it mayonnaise-side down.

If desired, cut the sandwich in half diagonally for easier eating.
